Drivers in Connecticut and across the country are expected to remain vigilant at all times while driving. However, extra care is necessary under certain conditions, such as bad weather or heavy traffic. Failure to take this care could, unfortunately, result in a car accident with serious consequences.
For example, an accident that took place in mid-February proved fatal. Reports indicate that the incident happened in an area where traffic attempting to get on a Connecticut interstate can back up. On the day of the accident, police say that there was heavy congestion as people returned from a holiday weekend.
Unfortunately, reports claim that a pickup truck driven by a 33-year-old man struck the rear of a vehicle, pushing that vehicle into the rear of another. The last vehicle then pushed forward, sideswiping a fourth vehicle. One of the cars involved turned on its side while another was destroyed. In total, reports indicate that seven people were transported to the hospital.
Tragically, reports indicate that one of the victims of the car accident, a 67-year-old woman, passed away five days later. Now her family is left to cope with the unexpected news of her death, including both the emotional and financial ramifications that are involved with such a loss. Though it is unclear what charges — if any — are expected to be filed by California law enforcement officials, the woman’s surviving family members have the option of filing a personal injury lawsuit against the person believed to be responsible. While it will likely do little to lessen their grief, a successfully presented case will ensure that their financial responsibilities are met while they mourn their loss.
