The unexpected death of a loved one is always difficult news. When that loss comes as a result of a preventable car accident, that sense of loss if often compounded. Unfortunately, a family in Connecticut is likely still adjusting to the loss of one of their loved ones as police work to determine the cause of the accident that resulted in his death.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. on a day in early May. According to reports, the local police department received several calls about an accident involving a pickup truck and a sedan. The two motor vehicles reportedly collided, causing the pick-up truck to strike the home.
The driver of the pickup was trapped inside and required extrication. He was transported to the hospital where he ultimately passed away. The driver of the second vehicle reportedly suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. The house sustained minor damage, and no one was home at the time of the crash.
The man’s identity was not released in the immediate aftermath of the car accident. Additionally, no charges were filed or citations issued; however, the incident remains under investigation. Because of the financial hardship that medical costs, funeral expenses and lost wages can create for grieving families, those in Connecticut who suffer a loss as a result of another’s actions often choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit. Once the investigation into this incident is completed and the cause of the accident determined, the deceased man’s family may choose to consult with an attorney with experience in such cases to determine what their legal options are, which may potentially include seeking recompense from the other driver if it is determined that negligence was a factor in the man’s death.
