During the holiday seasons, many people may observe additional traffic as people travel to spend time with family and friends and complete holiday shopping. While drivers should remain vigilant at all times, it is especially important to do so when there could be increased traffic. Unfortunately, a recent car accident in Connecticut, believed to have been caused by a driver who failed to respond to slowing traffic, has resulted in a fatality.
The incident happened during the early morning hours of a day in November. According to reports, two vehicles were involved in collision. Both vehicles were apparently parked on the shoulder of the road while the drivers stood outside talking. Unfortunately, police say that a vehicle in the left lane failed to respond to slowing traffic.
That vehicle reportedly struck another vehicle in the rear, and the vehicle driven by the driver who police say failed to slow struck one of the cars parked on the shoulder, causing the vehicle to strike a female driver who was standing on the shoulder. The vehicle that was struck in the rear reportedly spun, striking another vehicle. A 29-year-old female passenger in the former died as a result of injuries suffered in the accident. The other injured victims were transported to the hospital, but their injuries are considered non-life threatening.
This time of year is often associated with time spent with family and making memories. Unfortunately, one family is now, instead, mourning the unexpected, preventable death of their family member as a result of the Connecticut car accident. To help cope with the burdens that a loss of wages and funeral expenses can create, the surviving family members of the deceased woman may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the parties deemed responsible for the accident.
